The Truth About Aging and Lifelong Movement

We are told that decline is inevitable—as if loss of posture, strength, and stability is just part of getting older.

Many people turn to external “fixes” that promise results, but too often leave them frustrated, injured, or dependent

Underneath it all, what most of us are truly seeking is confidence:
to walk with ease, stand tall without effort, and move through life on our own terms.

But our culture doesn’t teach us to trust the body’s intelligence. Instead, we learn to override it—disconnecting from the natural power built into our bones.

What if there were a way to:

  • Recover your body’s natural blueprint for strength, alignment, and balance-without pushing or forcing
  • Stand taller, walk stronger, and feel more fully yourself
  • Tap into simple movement patterns already encoded in your biology

You were built for motion, strength, and joy.
And those capacities are still available—sometimes just waiting for the right invitation to reawaken.

Bones for Life is that invitation.

To stand taller

To move smarter

To feel grounded in your body and your life-no matter your age, history, or current condition

“The Bones for Life program is an amazing, gait changing, life changing experience. I came to study with Cynthia's team initially to address some intractable back pain. Through studying in her virtual classes I self diagnosed that walking was harming me - at least how I was doing it! Bones for Life entranced me. So simple are the processes, and yet so powerful. The teachers are amazingly experienced and talented. I highly recommend the program.”

How Do the Classes Work?

Our Bones for Life Immersions are offered on-line. You don’t need to leave your home or office. And we offer several times per week to choose from.

We teach in an immersive way with each exploration building on the last. Immersive learning helps facilitate rapid and effective change because the student doesn’t immediately return to their old habits.

Each immersion builds on the last and is designed for the average person who wants to upgrade their personal health or learn new methods for helping others. Together, our three Bones for Life Immersions provide a comprehensive program for musculoskeletal health.

Sessions are live! All Immersions are held online, in a small-group format where you will receive direct support from Cynthia Allen and senior BFL faculty. You will join the instructors via Zoom.

Interactive sessions. We will stop periodically for questions and check-ins. This means you can be heard. And you can learn from other students too.

Exercises are Accessible. Done in sitting, standing and lying on a mat. Can't get to the floor? You can even use your bed.

Replays! If you can't make a class you can watch on replay. But there is more than that. You can watch these replays for weeks, months and years to come.

“I have just finished Bones for Life Immersion 1. Already I feel changes in my comfort level of moving. I have osteoporosis and I want to feel safe in my movements. Bones for Life is helping me to address movement patterns that I don’t realize I have that can create pain. It is surprising to me how my curiosity is lit by certain lessons and keeps me going.”

JUST FOR YOU!

“I’ve been in the field of health and wellness for over 47 years. I’m not easily impressed. I’ve also had a lot of accidents and injuries. Now I have young grandchildren and I want to do things with them. I can get up and down from the floor, but I wanna run! Even as a Feldenkrais practitioner and Physical Therapist, the fear of falling is always there. I feel like Bones for Life has freed me from that fear. When I’m running with either my new little puppy dog or my grandson, I’m feeling every bit of how my foot is on the ground. It’s so practical.”

- Beth Rubenstein

Physical Therapist, Feldenkrais Practitioner

The pain is much less than before. When I get up, I ask myself, What is it that I want right now? I might focus on my ribs that allow me to breathe and allow me to move more freely.

It’s really gentle. If I have 15 minutes, I can do a quick Bones for Life process. I can use it in response to what my need is at the time. I had gotten used to living with a 30-year-old back injury, but I noticed, it doesn’t hurt anymore.”

- Ellen Agger

who struggled with CPRS, recovery from a broken wrist, and rotator cuff injury

BFL has helped me more than ANY other class with my walking, posture and alignment, and with feeling more comfortable and confident in what I am doing and learning! I know more about what to do, and if I have problems, there are specific processes to help. I took all 3 Immersions. And I am now reviewing the replays for even more learning. Each time I go over a process, I learn and know myself better–a deeper understanding and awareness.”

- Sharana Mueller

Frequently Asked Questions

The Bones for Life program by Ruthy Alon provides a somatic movement answer to the challenge of balance, function, and bone/joint health across a lifetime. In this program, the learning principles of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais are reinterpreted into the upright environment so they engage and stimulate the bones to function in a counter-gravity way. Challenge is paced to the individual so you can learn to move efficiently and pleasurably.
