Can You Take the Teacher Training and Never Intend to Teach?

Answer:

You can and it will be an extraordinary experience for you! While most people who take it are interested in using it as teachers or in their private bodywork practice, some join because they love the work and want to learn all they can. Skip the student teaching or mentoring if you want. Do it if you want. Use the training for what YOU want to do and become.

Becoming a Teacher

The Bones for Life Teacher training is a 210-hour program. Here are the details:

Immersions 1-3. In those 60 hours, you will experience over 80 of the 90 processes. Listen to what the non-professionals experience while developing your somatic understanding. Watch your own movement and comfort grow and grow and grow!

During each Immersion, there will be 2 Professional Only discussions (attendance optional but only available for those in the Teacher Track) where we review the Learning Objectives for that Immersion and the Outcomes for each movement process.

Hardcopy Manuals for all 3 immersions - only available for those in the Teacher Track (value $300)

Once the 3 Immersions are completed (you do need to attend 75% of that live and with your camera on so your progress can be tracked by the teachers), you will become a Teacher in Training and officially enter the Teacher Training Portion.

The Teacher Training will be taught online, with 14 Saturday sessions from 10 am-2:30 p.m Eastern/NY with Senior Trainer, Cynthia Allen (date details when you click to enroll –75% attendance required for certification)

There is an in-person 7-day retreat, which is required by Cynthia for certification. It will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio the end of October/early November 2026. Attendance is required for certification.

Additional certification requirements include:

36 student teaching hours (you find your own students--but we have ideas)

24 mentoring hours -- 3 private mentoring hours with Cynthia are included in the fee. Usually all other mentoring hours will be able to be obtained without any further fees.

What’s Not Included in the Fee:
Travel to the Retreat
Room and Board for the Retreat

"My patients are so scared of re-fracturing that it takes me a very long time to get them comfortable even trying new things. My osteoporosis patients move with less fear and feel that they are in total control. That's huge. My patients LOVE this work."
- Amy Morris
Physical Therapist specializing in Scoliosis, Osteoporosis and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome ( EDS)
"I wish I had a time machine and I could travel back to when I was hiring people to work in our community health centers and programs to help frail seniors thrive until their end of life. A lot of folks could incorporate Bones for Life in their life, and they wouldn't have to reach for medications with side effects and great expense. I say this as a 65-year-old woman aware she's aging and as a retired family physician who worked in five different states in various communities."
- Laura Frankenstein
Retired Family Physician
"I had a blast. We had so much fun in Bones for Life Teacher Training. There's nothing like being in person and being with all these people that we've been meeting online all this time and now to actually be with in person. We danced, we sang, we worked, we studied, and we had a life together! It was a wonderful life experience, Thank you.“
- Toni Norris
Fitness Instructor / Bones for Life Teacher
“I had no idea until I finished the training that the investment of time and money was going to take me to a whole new awareness in my life. I was challenged because I was a full time teacher and a part time shiatsu, managing a lot, and I'm also a performing artist, and I was doing shows during this process of training. I'll tell you, the time I spent in our Zoom classes gave me everything and made everything better about all the other things I was doing. I was a better actor. I was a better teacher. I was a better shiatsu. It improved everything, and I felt so much better while I was doing it. So that was remarkable. And I didn't know that when I committed to the program. I had no idea. I was like, How am I going to do this? But I know now. “
- Linda Nenno Breining
Theater Professor and Shiatsu Practitioner
“Doing the Bones for Life teacher training course online and then attending the retreat face-to-face has been the best gift I've given myself for many years. I just can't believe what I got out of it; the discoveries I made were well beyond anything I could have imagined. I felt supported and I was able to overcome a lot of personal barriers. The teacher training program not only helped me gain new skills but also expanded my personal understanding. It also enabled me to overcome my resistance to IT-related stuff. I felt so supported by the support team, making it easier for me to navigate online communication and delve into new IT areas. The training enhanced my communication and presentation skills for both online and in-person audiences. “

Frequently Asked Questions

The Bones for Life program by Ruthy Alon provides a somatic movement answer to the challenge of balance, function, and bone/joint health across a lifetime. In this program, the learning principles of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais are reinterpreted into the upright environment so they engage and stimulate the bones to function in a counter-gravity way. Challenge is paced to the individual so you can learn to move efficiently and pleasurably.

All Immersions sure are! Your sessions will be live and replays can be accessed on our platform. If you move into the Teacher Training, the last week will be in person and that is important to know. Only a pandemic would change that.

Yes and yes! All the videos, audio, and transcripts can be viewed from any of those platforms.

In an effort to protect privacy, the videos for Immersions 1-3 are not downloadable. However, the audios are. The videos and audios of all the teacher training sessions, both in person and online will be available to you.

We accept all major credit cards and PayPal. Should you have any problems with your payment: please contact us.

We want to facilitate growth and know cost can sometimes be an issue. We are pleased to offer a limited number of partial scholarships based on need. Please read our scholarship policy and apply here.

If you do the first immersion (which includes taking care of yourself and working at your own pace) and don’t experience improvement, we will refund your purchase. This needs to be requested by May 30 and will include a review of attendance or use of replays as well as a conversation about your experience. No refunds will be issued after that time.

This purchase gives you right to use these recordings for your own personal or professional growth. You are not authorized to share them with anyone else.

Once the Teacher Training begins you will be at the Teacher In Training stage. Student Teaching will be a part of this stage. Once you complete all the requirements, you will be a Bones for Life Certified Teacher.
