Yes to Life
hummingbird and monkey medicine

a transformative retreat

January 25 – 31, 2020

Costa Rica

Yes and thank you. Perhaps the two most important words to master as we grow beyond surviving and even thriving. The home of fifty species of hummingbirds, Costa Rica is a place of tropical abundance. For this retreat we will be using both hummingbird medicine of joy and lightness, as well as monkey medicine of curiosity and playfulness. These beings are in continual Yes to Life mode. Our home for this will be Peace Retreat  located in the town of Playa Negra, along the stunning Pacific Gold Coast in the Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, near Tamarindo.

What will you get from this journey?

Tend to your own inner world

Come home to your body and ease in motion through Feldenkrais lessons

Exploration of gratitude and openness to what is

Experience co-creation and holding of space

Clarify your current stage, struggles and opportunities of your life through myth, discussion and reflection

Be supported by a community of like-minded, warm-hearted people

“I came to the retreat hoping to expand my capacities as a human and for deep rest. Both of my expectations were met and exceeded.

I enjoyed the rhythm of inner work and outer experience. The extended Feldenkrais exercise helped my body find a new and more comfortable state of grace. The spiral dynamics and other teaching helped me to further integrate my experience. ”

Mackey McNeill, past retreat participant

Country of abundant life

Costa Rica is indeed a country of abundant life. It is a rugged, rainforested Central American country with coastlines on the Caribbean and Pacific and known for its beaches, volcanoes, and biodiversity. Roughly a quarter of its area is made up of protected jungle, teeming with wildlife including spider monkeys and quetzal birds.

Within walking distance of the beach as well as a the small town of Playa Negra, Peace Retreat will be our home for this week.

“The retreat was a thoughtfully integrated experience which left me feeling peaceful in mind, body and spirit.

Cynthia and Larry’s respectful engagement with participants helped me feel comfortable and safe. Thank you to them for being caring, open, and fun facilitators.”

Mary Rudd, GCFP, past retreat participant

Peace Retreat is a wellness center designed to enhance the experience of the surrounding nature by using an increased proportion of open-air common areas with simple, jungle infused accommodation options. Somewhat rustic, this is not a high-end retreat ccenter or hotel but a Costa Rican experience in comfort.

Their goal is to support guests comfortably, immerse them within the vast open space and stunning scenery; to explore and connect with nature in a tropical setting; to achieve the right balance of peace and rejuvenation.

There is an onsite smoothie bar as well as a menu of spa services. All available at an extra fee.

Local adventure opportunities abound if you have a partner/spouse that wants to come but doesn’t want to do the retreat. Surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, stand up paddle board, zip lining and more. All these are within a reasonable distance from Peace Retreat.

This Ayurvedic Yoga retreat center serves delicious, wholesome food. A fish or chicken option will be served once a day. Otherwise, vegetarian goodness will be dished up with love.

If you have special food needs, let us know and they will work to accommodate them.

Because we also like to encourage local contact on our retreats, we will go into town together for a couple of dinners. And with our day trips eat offsite a few times as well.

Fly into Liberia International Airport (LIR)

From there you will catch a provided shuttle to the retreat center which is about 1 hour away.  There will be two shuttles on the first day of the retreat. Before you book your flight, we will let you know what arrival times to target.
